According to Clara Cohen from the Aqu Pro Academy, stress affects the Liver FIRST, as it tightens and stops the flow of Qi (Chi) and THE SMOOTH FLOW OF QI IS VITAL TO A HEALTHY LIVER.
And according to Dr. Julie Hein Ball, who is a Liver transplant surgeon at Mayo Clinic, it is the fastest-growing dis-ease today, and initially, you may not even know that you have it.
We all think that Liver issues are only related to excessive alcohol use and partying too hard, and although this is a very real cause, it is NOT always the case.
We all experience anxiety and stress on a daily basis. But due to the Covid pandemic and during the lockdown, the number of people suffering from CHRONIC anxiety and stress has escalated, and health issues have taken its toll on a large percentage of the population worldwide. The liver, as we know now is targeted when you’re chronically stressed.
BUT, MORE ABOUT YOUR “ANXIOUS LIVER” LATER……
LET’S FIRST LOOK AT YOUR LIVER AND IT’S FUNCTIONS.
Your liver has MORE than 400 plus functions in your body.
First and foremost, your liver acts as a filtration station for your body.
Your liver absorbs nutrients, and stores these nutrients until your body needs to use it as energy.
Your liver purifies your blood and also stores blood for energy purposes.This is particularly important for the ladies who suffer from very heavy and painful or erratic and irregular menstruation, which normally relates to distorted liver Qi.
Your Liver neutralizes toxins, and converts the toxins into harmless substances or eliminates them from your body.
For twenty-four hours a day, your liver takes in unclean blood, filters it, and refreshes it. It then releases clean blood back into your body.
Your Liver is also a VERY important organ for a well-functioning metabolism, so if you gain weight easily and struggle to shed it, or if you struggle with BELLY FAT, your LIVER is probably UNHAPPY!!
Your liver produces bile which is necessary for breaking down the fats in food, and stores glucose to use as energy, but the more inflammation you have in your liver, the less it can produce the correct amount of bile that aids in your digestion. And the more your digestion is compromised, the more of a “leaky gut” you will have.
The more inflammation there is in your body, caused by a sluggish liver that cannot detoxify your body properly, the harder your adrenals will have to work to produce cortisol. Here are some symptoms directly related to an UNHAPPY LIVER and directly linked to stress and anxiety.
And I must mention that I have FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE of these symptoms…..ALL OF THEM!
If you have any chronic issues with movement or stiffness in your tendons, ligaments, or joints, or for instance, if you suffer from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, then your Liver may very well be the culprit, (not that the LIVER is ever the culprit, but you know what I mean). The liver controls sinews, that’s why movement in those areas will be affected.
The Liver is also the “pathway” to your eyes and controls your tears. So, if you have chronic teary eyes or chronically red eyes, this could definitely indicate that your liver is congested.The Liver is also the “pathway” to your eyes.
If you’re feeling “stuck” and you are not able to plan or strategize, you may want to look at the possibility of an unhappy liver. This means that you will also have difficulty setting goals, or completing projects.
If you struggle to have a vision for the future, or you’re not being able to strategize, or if you’re having difficulty in setting goals, then you would not be able to see projects through and make decisions.
If you are sighing a lot, (and you will probably don’t know that you are), then it DEFINITELY indicates stagnant liver Qi. And as weird as it sounds, listen to yourself or others and you will KNOW the difference between a “normal” sigh, and frequent sighing.
When the smallest meal or even just a glass of water makes you feel bloated and you are chronically bloated, you would definitely be checking for a congested liver. And as a matter of interest, a congested liver more often than not go hand in glove with gut issues.
Chronic Constipation. (Often related to stress anyway).
A lot of people suffer from CHRONIC neck and shoulder tension, often accompanied by stiffness and pain in the back trapezius area. These are very common symptoms when the flow of Qi is erratic due to a congested liver.

Your liver is known as “the seat of emotions”, and in particular anger. Anger DISRUPTS the function of the liver.
Insufficient dispersion of blood by the liver leads to the emotion of irritability, which stems from anger and ANGER FUELS LIVER DISEASE, so it becomes a vicious circle.
This is the part where I’m going to tell you not to despair…..
It may look and feel gloomy, BUT there are wonderful and effective ways to deal with ALL OF THISand will be discussed later on in this article.
If you’re clumsily walking into door frames or bumping into them as if you’re balance is compromised, or you are droppings things, feeling disconnected and “in a bubble” with difficulty in concentration, then you more than likely have a congested liver. Stagnant liver Qi can cause compromised balance in every area.
SO…….How do we get a congested liver?
First and foremost…..STRESS AND ANXIETY are the MAIN reasons for getting your liver in a knot!
COMFORT FOOD goes hand in glove with stress and anxiety, that’s why I call it “anxiety snacking”. The fact of the matter is, most people “comfort eat”, and the REASONS for that is a topic for another article. We reach for the sugary and carby foods because they taste good. Most unfortunately the liver takes the brunt and we suffer the consequences.
TOXINS are not that easy to avoid completely in the environment we find ourselves in today. Toxins are in our food, our cleaning materials as well as in our skincare and hair products. It’s in perfumes, candles, and in our workplace, it’s everywhere and comes in many different forms, it’s in the air we breathe and in the water we drink. It IS possible to eliminate toxins to a large extend from your living environment, and your life, IF you wish to become that dedicated.
So, the more toxins your body is exposed to, whether it’s stress, food, or the environment, the harder your liver has to work to remove them. Eventually, your liver becomes sluggish and congested, and your health problems become chronic.
A SLUGGISH LIVER WILL EVENTUALLY BECOME A FATTY LIVER (And it doesn’t take that long).
Here are some ways to Detox Your Liver Naturally:
1. I would honestly say, that REDUCING your stress and anxiety is the MOST IMPORTANT to start with. There are fantastic ways and many tools that work extremely well to minimize stress and anxiety. It just takes a bit of discipline and commitment. Your anxious brain is a big part of the problem here. If you learn how to “de-stress” your anxious brain, you will be in a good place already!
2. Grievances and un-forgiveness lead to resentment and anger and is toxic to every area of your life. As I’ve mentioned earlier, the liver is THE SEAT OF ANGER. LET IT GO! (your anger, not your liver). Find ways or a counselor to help you with this, but do it! You will NEVER have a happy liver (or life for that matter), if you have unresolved or residual anger. Trust me on this, I’m SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE.
3. It becomes exceedingly difficult for your liver to do its job when you pack in the sugar. I suggest you keep your sugar intake to an absolute minimum, and even better if you can cut it out completely. This is by far the most unpopular tip, but VERY NECESSARY! If sugar cravings are getting the better of you, (and trust me, I KNOW ALL TOO WELL about sugar cravings) then find some easy recipes for substitutes that will help you through this. Here is a recipe for….
Easy Banana, Oats and Apple Snack Bars.
2 Cups of Rolled Oats.
2 Mashed Bananas.
2 Grated Carrots.
1 Grated Apple.
1 Cup unsweetened Applesauce.
½ Cup chopped nuts of your choice.
Preheat the oven to 350F (175degrees C).
Mix all the ingredients together.
Spread evenly into a 9 x 13 inch (22 x 33cm) baking tray. Use a little butter or Ghee to grease the pan.
Pop in the oven and bake until golden brown. Cut into bars.
Sugar does not just mean, sugar in your coffee or tea, it means hidden sugars that lurk everywhere. Fructose is sugar, and as a matter of interest, very high amounts of fructose are found in corn syrup which is the main ingredient in soft drinks. Most refined carbs like pasta, bagels, bread, and muffins are major culprits in containing CORN SYRUP. I love to refer to the three C’s, most commonly consumed by us comfort eaters, CAKES, COOKIES, and CANDIES!!! These, ALL break down to sugar in your body and feed the “fat making factory” in your Liver and believe me, it doesn’t take long to show up in your body as symptoms.
You cannot outrun the metabolic effects of a “poor” diet.
The sad news is that it effects as much as ten percent of our children as well.
4. Healthy fats like Avocado, Coconut oil, Ghee, and Olive oil are imperative to a healthy liver AND it helps A LOT with not getting sugar cravings.
5. Beet Kvass is an all-time favourite and is easy to make. It helps your liver rejuvenate and it tastes yummy. Drink a small glass (around 150ml) of beet kvass on an empty stomach in the morning. You will FEEL the difference after a few days….I PROMISE! See the recipe below.
Recipe for Beet Kvass.
Three to four small Beets.
One tbsp sea salt or Himalayan salt.
Glass jar or Ceramic pitcher.
Cut the Beets into quarter pieces and place in a jar. Cover the Beets with water and add the salt. Cover the jar with a clean cloth and stand in a cool place for three days. Remove the Beets and keep in the fridge. It will keep for about three days. Drink 150ml every morning on an empty stomach.
7. Water…water…WATER!! I cannot stress enough how important hydration is. Fluid hydrates your liver, herbal tea, and fresh lemon juice in tepid or warm water are also fluids, but nothing beats water.
REMEMBER….ALCOHOL DE-HYDRATES! So it doesn’t count as a fluid. (I sense some sad-faced readers here…).
6. Organ meat is definitely helpful, but there are many people who cannot stomach organ meat (me, for one!), or who are vegetarian, and fortunately, there are many really good supplements on the market. I must stress though, that supplements are exactly THAT! It supplements, it DOES NOT FIX! Here are two products that I have tested and found trustworthy and helpful.
8. Castor oil packs are VERY EFFECTIVE and it’s a gentle way to help your liver decongest. It’s also an excellent way to wake up your lymphatic system, so it can support your liver with detoxifying. You can do a castor oil pack once a week, to begin with, and work your way to three or four times per week until your liver feels happy again.
Here is the EASY recipe and method.
Good quality Castor Oil, preferably packaged in a glass bottle.
Flannel pack or a 100% cotton cloth also works well.
An towel not used otherwise.
Hot water bottle (not a heating pad as it can burn)
Soak the flannel or cotton cloth with castor oil.
Place the castor oil pack over your liver area (just above your rib cage under your right breast).
Place the towel over the top of the castor oil cloth and then place a hot water bottle on top of the cloth.
Leave on for an hour and take that time to relax.
PLEASE NOTE:- DO NOT do castor oil packs if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have an IUD or during menses.
Last but MOST IMPORTANT….As detox is a parasympathetic process, you need to find time to rest. Go to bed earlier, meditate for 5 or 10 minutes, but make time to get physical rest. The parasympathetic nervous system is responsible for your body’s rest and digestion response when your body is relaxed, resting, or feeding. It basically undoes the work of the sympathetic nervous system which is in overdrive when you are stressed or unwell.
It makes it much more difficult for your liver to do a detox job when you are constantly fatigued. Other organs, like your kidneys and your lungs, are supporters to your liver in this cleansing endeavor, and they all work optimally when given rest.
So, the risk of liver disease definitely relates to stress and anxiety and is a REALITY.

I have been waiting patiently to write an article on Covid, as I decided right at the beginning that I would first observe, the behaviour and the state of being of the people, and everything in between.
I somehow knew that the lock down was not going to be a done and dusted thing in a month or two, and I also somehow knew that life as we knew it for the last decade would NEVER be the same again. It saddens me greatly, to see just HOW MUCH it has changed, not just personal lives, but customary routine in businesses and of course the grim state of world wide economics. It has certainly brought things to the surface that may have been there all along, but not as intensified.
Let’s just call it by it’s name……FEAR…FEAR AND MORE FEAR!!! It has definitely brought FEAR to the surface!
As if the human race did not already have enough stress and anxiety! The uncertainty and retrains that came with the lock down has definitely made everybody realize, that life can change literally in the blink of an eye. It has brought with it, frugal and cautious living for most and sadly a total collapse for others. It has demanded of people to re-assess their family life, their place of work and their social life. It has imposed changes that we would not have otherwise contemplated. The changes that were involuntary brought about are profound, and as we know, change does not come easy for the majority, especially if something worked quite well in a normal routine way.
there are people that have lost loved ones and businesses, that have to deal with loss and immense anxiety. There are families who have Covid survivors, that have to follow certain protocols in the hope that their health will return, which gives anxiety another meaning altogether. It is very different for everyone, but seriously raises stress levels beyond what some can take. Many people are still struggling through change and loss, and are merely taking it day by day in the hope to survive and restore!
I am happy to say, that there is a large percentage of people that have decided that change may not be such a bad thing, and have embraced the idea of finding ways to morph into a divergent direction or to navigate into uncharted waters. The one thing that everybody has in common at this time, is that we have all been close to, or are at THE TIPPING POINT.
The fact of the matter is………..Stress, Anxiety and Depression has more than tripled in the last 6 months.
But,I first want to make one thing very clear, I AM NOT HERE TO TALK ABOUT THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS THAT COVID AND THE LOCK DOWN HAVE ON OUR LIVES. I am merely stating the obvious, to bring you to the harsh reality that if you are not willing to change direction then at least be willing to change YOUR MINDSET! Your MINDSET is THE ONE THING, that YOU HAVE ABSOLUTE CONTROL OVER, and that is your MOST POWERFUL TOOL RIGHT NOW!
So, this article is to help you take a different stance, on what could be perceived as a rather gloomy situation.

This is not a “ten steps to fixing” your life, or knowing all the answers. Your “NOW” will become brighter IF and when YOU become BRIGHTER!
The first thing that is super important to face, is the reality that NOTHING, WILL EVER BE THE SAME AS BEFORE AGAIN! Once you cross that bridge, or even start to build that bridge, your’e more than on your way. And with change always comes CHALLENGE! For most people, challenge is something they avoid, but in THIS INSTANCE it is something to “embrace”.
If you can’t embrace it…..then hold it in front of you and at least look at it, start a conversation with it, make it an acquaintance until you can canoodle with it!
And THAT will only happen when you relinquish the FEAR OF CHANGE, the fear of the unknown and the fear of loosing control!
Isn’t that what it’s all about? …….LOOSING CONTROL!
THE FEAR OF NOT BEING IN CONTROL truly manifests, when every aspect of your life suddenly takes a hundred and eighty degree turn, a paradigm shift, necessitated by unplanned circumstances. In YOUR mind, you HAVE TO BE IN CONTROL, because that means you are being responsible for your decisions, your actions and your life! And that is not at all a bad thing. The problem appears, when we fight to keep being in control despite the circumstances that “force” us to change direction suddenly and swiftly. This is a GUARANTEE for raising stress levels and a GUARANTEE for INCREASED ANXIETY!
YOU CAN DO THIS!….
SO WHAT DO YOU DO UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES?
I have found that even though six months have passed already, there are still many people that are only now deciding that it’s time to switch gears, as nobody really knew where the whole lock-down was going or how long it was going to last. Many were hoping that it would end soon and that everything will be as it was, so that life could resume were it left of. Be it as it may, we are all challenged in one way or another. So, here are a few tips for those of you who are in that place of exploration and don’t quite know where to start.
As difficult as this may seem, try not to go into panic mode. As “normal” as this reaction is, fear and panic numbs your thinking and you make irrational decisions.
Start by accessing the situation in a practical manner and be realistic about the facts. Your “battle” seems a lot easier when you know your “enemy”.
Make lists of the pro’s and con’s regarding the changes that you would have to make in your circumstances. It will help put things in perspective.
Never make a decision when you are emotional about the situation, be it anger or feelings of despair, or when you have a grievance toward the person or people involved.
Look for the positives in what you perceive as negatives.
Find a method or tool that will help you breathe easier and bring some stress relief.There are lots of different tools available on this website, that will be very helpful in dealing with stress and anxiety.
If your business has diminished, or you have been retrenched, then it’s time to think outside the box. Make a list of ALL the things/hobbies you enjoy and are good at, that could possibly generate an income. Choose the things that you have to spend the least money on to get started.
If you don’t have a hobby, but always wanted to do something that you never had time for, now is the time to explore those avenues.
There is a vast amount of on-line “jobs” and/or entrepreneurial opportunities to embark on. ON-LINE IS THE FUTURE. Don’t for a moment feel disorientated or absent if you are not familiar with this. You do not have to be proficient in computer skills, as there is a plethora of communities and websites that offer very good FREE training.
There are so many things, that can be discussed about this time you find yourself in, and it’s tough, make no mistake…..
BUT, one thing is for sure, you are faced with a “newness” that is challenging, yet exiting!
It’s just a matter of finding your “sea legs” on a stormy sea!

MY take on Covid…..
I am excited about the future of our planet. I know this sounds weird, because all the changes that this pandemic has brought have been challenging, to say the least! And there are people that have lost loved ones and businesses that have to deal with loss and immense anxiety, as I have mentioned in this article.
It is very different for everyone, and we all have personal and different stories to tell.
I myself is part of the re-inventing group, as our business was tourist related and of course, as the tourism doors and borders closed, so did our doors close. Not a welcome experience at all, as it happened at a time when our business was just about to be profitable, for the first time since we opened our doors, in just under two years. Hubby had to become even more innovative than before, and had to change the point of compass. To top it all, we had literally been fighting for his life until just a few months before Covid struck. Stress levels were high and challenges da plenty! Never the less, we both have immense gratitude that the tide of his health turned when it did, since crossing borders on a weekly basis to get to doctors etc., would have been beyond what our stress levels would have endured.
I am ABSOLUTELY convinced that although the lock-down has totally spiraled out of control, and some people are riddled with fear due the uncertainty of it all, there are immense blessings in disguise. Some families, who were “forced” to lock down together have made new connections with each other, despite the initial challenge of spending hours and hours together totally out of the norm. Businesses have been “forced” to change direction, and grasp the nettle, beyond what they even though possible. Entrepreneurs are “forced” to re-invent themselves as it where, and stretch their abilities to create something new, that will once again reach viable levels of economic restore and personal fulfillment.
There are people that are job less, homeless and feel worth less, and for that I am truly sorry, but hope that those who are not, can be of some service somewhere. I have seen more team work, camaraderie and empathy in communities than before, as if the energy of desperation brought with it a message to serve rather than being self-serving.
This is truly a time to take stock of one’s life. To see the shadow side that needs more light, to own up to the overactive ego and be willing to ditch it. This is a time to see the reflection of true caring and love in yourself, by seeing it in others. It’s brought the realization that at the end of the day, we all need someone to lean on and more importantly be willing for others to lean on us. All of this will eventually usher in a beautiful, warm, loving and healing light!!
When you experience a happening or an event in your life, happy or sad, your five senses “plug into” that external environment. It’s processed as sensory data, rushes back to your brain where masses of neurons organize themselves into networks and patterns, to reflect their interaction with that experience. The brain then makes a chemical which causes the emotion, and the emotion causes the feeling. Emotions are the end products of experiences, which is why we remember the experience. This is called a long term memory, and that’s why you can remember the detail of those events, where you were, what you were wearing, who you were with, what you had to eat etc. Sad and hurtful memories cause anxiety and even depression and eventually causes dis-ease in your physical body. So then, is it possible that we can obliterate those sad and painful memories?The answer is YES!
THINK WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT …..THE BEGINNING OF CHANGE
What you do on the outside of you will cause an effect inside of you. The thoughts that are creating the feeling of sadness and anxiety are the thoughts that are working “behind the scenes”, creating your emotions that trigger your anxiety. There are circuits in your brain that are connected to those thoughts and that cause you to behave the way you do. Recalling the memories of the experiences that cause the feelings of anxiety and pain is a sure way to keep your mind and body imprisoned. Your anxious brain causes you to think and feel the way you do, and how you think and how you feel creates your state of being. You need to break the “hard wiring” of those thoughts in your brain, because what wires together fires together. So, your thoughts and feelings of despair and anxiety etc. will cause your brain to be incoherent, like a massive thunderstorm with lightning bolts all over the place. Your brain shifts from one problem to another to try to find an outcome, like stepping on the gas and the brake at the same time. You narrow your focus to that of survival, and this is commonly known as your fight or flight mode.
THE SAME THOUGHTS PRODUCE THE SAME OUTCOME.
One of the most commonly asked questions I get all the time from people that suffer from stress, depression and anxiety is…… “why do the same things happen to me over and over again? Why do I attract the same people, experience the same bad luck, and attract the same circumstances?” This is because your thoughts are so hardwired in your brain that you think the same thought over and over again without even being aware of it. As if your’e so used to expecting something negative, that your thoughts come without you having to put too much effort into it. Common examples are, “it’s too good to be true” or “this can’t be” or “I’m sure they have made a mistake” when something good happens or something is in your favour.
A sure way to change your life, is to Rewire Your Anxious Brain!

REMEMBER, the same choices lead to the same behaviours, which lead to the same experiences. The same experiences will create the same emotions and the same emotions will create the same feelings. THIS IS CALLED CREATION!
THE WAVE OF FREQUENCY …….

Since your thoughts are carried on the wave of frequency, it will be the best place to start changing what manifests in your life. Change your thoughts so that your emotions can change, then the feeling will follow so that you can start “attracting” the good stuff. The healing, the good and gracious friends, the right partner etc. Waking up in the morning is when you start to create your day. What is the first thing that enters your mind when you open your eyes? Do you start thinking about your stressful day, your grumpy boss, your back pain, the terrible traffic, the fight you had with the phone company YESTERDAY ?
TRAIN YOUR MIND TO FEEL GOOD.

* Have gratitude for all the blessings you already have in your life, your family, your partner, your health, or whatever you can truly feel the emotion of gratitude for. The more you think these thoughts, the more you are training your mind and emotions to FEEL what it feels like to feel good.
You will, biologically and neurologically re-invent yourself to a new mind and a new body, by no longer allowing the thoughts that make you anxious. New thoughts connected to new emotions will match new behaviour. You will emotionally signal your body chemically to signal new genes. You will re-wire your brain and create a new you and a new life.
Read, listen to and surround yourself with the people and things that help you think and feel what it is you would like to experience in your life. Negative thoughts cannot exist in a positive light. Visualize and act as if what makes you happy already exist in your life. You will eventually re-invent a new self.
When the word meditation comes up, whether it is in conversation with a friend or in a group discussion, it is generally perceived as something only spiritual people can do! Some people think you have to be a nun or spiritual leader or that you have to sit with a monk on a mountain in Tibet. This is the furthest from the truth! The fact of the matter is, meditation doesn’t have to be a spiritual journey ONLY, OR AT ALL for that matter. The word meditation in Tibetan literally means…..” To become familiar with” (to know thyself). And that is exactly why I meditate, is to know myself. The fact that meditation has and is changing my world and my life all the time, in ways that astonish me, means that it’s worth sharing. Meditation in essence is a science.
ENERGY IS FREQUENCY
Energy is frequency and frequency carries information. It carries the information of all your thoughts, your anger, your sadness as well as your thoughts of joy and well-being. How often have you walked into a place and remarked that there is a good vibe?, or just had a bad feeling about something? You feel the energy and the vibration. Thoughts are the language of the brain and feelings are the language of the body.How you think and how you feel creates your state of being. If you keep living in a negative state of being, it will become so familiar to you, that you will “become” that negative being, and the same goes for a positive state of being. Your body is always emitting light and information, and every cell in body emits energy, so if you are negative and frustrated or sad and angry, you will have destructive interference. Matter (something that occupies space) does not create energy, energy creates matter.
WHY MEDITATE …….?
You spend about 70 percent of your life, living in a state of disharmony in some way or another, (under the “rule” of life as we know it). When your’e living in constant disharmony or survival, your survival gene gets activated.
So, what does that mean? It means, that try as you may, you will always choose the worst case scenario out of all the possibilities and infinite potentials in the quantum field, because THE SURVIVAL gene is now running the show. When your’e in stress mode, you narrow your focus on the cause or the object and on matter. You are constantly busy analyzing your life when you’re in some disturbing emotion and when your survival mode is switched on, you won’t be thinking about how to calm your mind or emotions, you will be thinking about running or hiding. You have to be able to turn of the stress response because your body is using all of its vital resources during the time of stress.
If you are always anxious, you will eventually condition your body to become the mind of fear, and if you keep doing that enough times, your mind becomes a subconscious program that will run over and over all the time, like every time you hit bad traffic or every time your’e running late, or every time you see the person that triggers your emotional buttons. You will eventually think that you need your outside environment to make you feel good or bad about your day.
But when you learn how to meditate, you will learn how to deregulate anxiety, down regulate the gene, and you will soon know, how NOT to be overcome by stress and anxiety from your outer environment. You cannot use your conscious mind to bring this change, you have to move past the analytical mind to do this. You can only move past the analytical mind in meditation.
Through meditation, you will learn how to be in a state of constant homeostasis. So you have to unlearn how to be your old self and re-learn how to become a new you, you have to break some habits.
You cannot change matter with matter. Let’s just briefly look at what “matter” is…..matter is MATERIAL…anything that takes up space, it’s pure substance. In other words, trying to change things with your analytical mind, would be trying to change matter with matter. Only ENERGY can change matter PERMANENTLY, (the ENERGY that “manifests” during meditation is what changes matter). You can make a conscious decision not to fall into the same trap of anger or anxiety, and it will work for a short while, but you will fall again and again, because you have to change the old wiring in you brain and create new synapses in your brain, using the energy “created” in meditation. In other words, you have to re-wire your brain. What wires together fire’s together!
Not making the same choices is undoubtedly the hardest part of change. Meditation is a way of reminding yourself of who you no longer want to be, and becoming more conscious of your choices. You will become more aware and more conscious of your old habits and behaviors, and it will become more difficult to return to your old self. Your analytical mind will start to change and your brain chemistry will change. You will get beyond your body and your mind and you will get beyond your environment and time, and then, and only then, will you connect with the quantum field….the place where all possibilities exist.
Changing your mind is a science, and you have to evolve your brain to change your mind. Dr. Joe Dispenza explains this in very simple terms in his book “EVOLVE YOUR BRAIN” . It will be a LIFE CHANGING experience for you!

WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR BRAIN DURING MEDITATION?
Up to the age of 35 you have accumulated belief systems, other peoples perceptions and ideas that have molded your personality and character. Your’e brain is a record of all the things you have’e experienced and all events that have taken place in your life. The way you think neurologically and the way you feel chemically is what causes you to act in predictable ways, therefore you think the same thoughts and you make the same choices today, as what you did yesterday and every other day before that. You have the same behaviors which determine the same experiences. So, it is easier up to the age of 35 to change those belief patterns and behaviors, but certainly not impossible thereafter. Changing the hard wiring in the brain is possible even when your’e a hundred and three, it just takes more effort.
When you meditate, you slow down your brain waves and different parts of your brain starts to synchronize. The front of the brain starts communicating with the back of the brain, the right side starts talking to the left side and what sinks in the brain, links in the brain.
The frontal lobe plays the major role, and it is your creative centre. It’s the boss of your brain, it’s the CEO and it’s connected to all other parts of the brain. When you start asking questions like, “how can I eliminate stress from my life ?” or “what would it be like to have a more relaxed life ?” or ” how can I make more money ?”, the frontal lobe begins to scan the entire landscape of your brain. It starts selecting different networks of neurons that are connected to all your past experiences and everything you have learnt intellectually, and it starts calling up the different circuits and pieces them together, to create a new level of mind. What an amazing masterpiece we have available to change our lives.
You stop thinking when you meditate, and you no longer narrow your focus on matter, you are no longer activating the circuits that fire in-coherently. When you meditate, you become energy instead of being matter!
Just like your old belief systems caused repetitive behavior, that made you miserable and dis-eased, new belief systems can be hard-wired to give you new life! If you keep knocking on that genetic door over and over again, you are going to begin to upregulate the genes for health and joy and down-regulate the genes for anxiety and disease. You will start to realize that you’re becoming a different person.
There really is no excuse to stay the same ol, same ol drunken sailor! or the same ol, same ol impatient, angry and resentful broken pretzel.
Ultimately, meditation and your brain will get married.
Changing the neuro circuitry in your brain is your goal. Changing the hard wiring in your brain will signal new genes in new ways and will wire and fire your new future.The hard wiring in your brain will start changing into a software program, because what wires together fires together. And the more you meditate, the more you will see change, and it will become easier and easier to reproduce a new state of being. You can no longer blame your aunt, your teacher, your parents or your goldfish for your unhappy or diseased state of being!
Be committed to meditation and you will fall in love with life.
The best way to start meditating is to be practical about it. No need to make this hard work or complicated.

We all have a bad hair day from time to time. We all experience ANXIETY from time to time. Situations and circumstances make sure of that. THE BIGGEST REASON FOR CHANGING ANXIETY IS….

A constant stress response that does not turn off, will inevitably cause dis-ease. You are not designed to live in fight or flight mode for extended periods of time. Unfortunately you can get used to the effects of stress and believe it or not, you can become addicted to the chemicals released by your brain. Your emotions send a signal to your brain which releases a certain cocktail of chemicals and it becomes your “fix”. The adrenalin rush and the over production of cortisol, (among a myriad of other chemicals) will become your enemy. You respond in a certain way to certain events that take place every day. You are exposed to the same event, the same routine and the same people who press the same emotional buttons, and you are oblivious to your silent brooding disaster.
The danger here, is that your brain and body does not know the difference between a real event or your memory of it, playing the same “movie” over and over in your mind. So, even though the person that cut you off in traffic is something of the past, the memory in your mind every time you tell the story, has the same stress response in your brain and body. Over time, that stress response will become habitual. Eventually, you will start feeling that the ride is just too crazy for you, and the feeling of not coping will become totally overwhelming. Your brain will now be in overdrive and you will be permanently ANXIOUS! I
You may think that wearing the”badge” of the hero, always in control will afford you a medal, but the naked truth and harsh reality is that it just puts you in a constant fight or flight mode, creating a big pot of brewing neuro chemicals. The ferocious communication between the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland, ensures an overproduction of dopamine, adrenaline and cortisol. You become an adrenaline junkie until you CRASH, commonly known as adrenal burn out or a nervous breakdown. It DOESN’T have to go that far. 2. Dancing is seen to be one of the best ways to get the adrenalin flowing in a healthy way. It gets every part of your body moving and sends signals of well-being to your brain. The plus side to this, is that you can create your own “groove” as it were, and you can do it on your own or invite a friend to make it fun.
4. Lifestyle is super important If you suffer from anxiety. You will more than likely have an unhealthy relationship with sugar. It is a vicious circle, excess cortisol will be produced by your brain when you bathe in a stress response all the time and is the culprit for your cravings and your emotional binge eating.
5. Meditation is a super fast way to get anxiety under control. You don’t have to be a monk on a mountain in Tibet and you don’t have to sit in a certain pose and burn incense. You can if you want to and that does help some people get into the zone, but certainly not a necessity. There are really awesome short guided meditations, free on the internet. As well as meditation music that focuses on nature sounds, ocean sounds, bird sounds, rain etc., just to mention a few. (There will be a super helpful article focusing on MEDITATION later on)

Each “death” you “die” becomes an opportunity to re invent yourselfto a greater YOU. It is in your suffering that your previous beliefs will be called into question. As much as you would rather continue as the “old you” and have a longing for the familiar.….

The RISING from the “ashes” of your past, will rekindle the spark for your future. It will bring a new day and a new anxious free life and with it, it will bring freedom! You will know your power because no cage can imprison the Phoenix.

Anxiety affects one out of five people every day and from ALL walks of life.
Many people know that they are anxious and don’t do much about it, other than take over the counter drugs to get some relief, (and it’s normally temporary) because they don’t know enough about it, while others don’t know they are anxious and are treating symptoms caused by anxiety like chronic pain, insomnia and irritability among many other symptoms. The key to living a fulfilled life in and among all the challenging external circumstances is KNOWLEDGE! In this instance, KNOWLEDGE IS DEFINITELY POWER! If you know your “enemy” and it’s strategy, then YOU will have strategy and you will be ONE STEP “A HEAD” ! Knowing WHICH parts of your brain go haywire in your flurry and exactly how to use their assistance, can and will make a significant difference to your life. You will understand your “symptoms” and realize where it’s coming from. So, let us take a look at some facts and plan some strategy to help you TRAIN YOUR BRAIN AND TAME YOUR ANXIETY . This doesn’t mean you have to go to med school or do a crash course on brain function. It merely means that when you know a little more about the main role players in your brain, you will feel more empowered to deal with your anxiety at first, and then learn how to walk in the freedom you desire.
The following parts of the brain is far more complex than what I’m about to describe, but for the purpose intended I will keep it as simple as possible.
The limbic System regulates emotions and consists of the amydala the hypothalamus, the thalamus and the hippocampus and sits on top of the brain stem.
The amygdala contributes to emotional processing. When the amygdala is over stimulated, it triggers anger, fear, anxiety and aggression. When you are faced with danger, your eyes and ears sends the information to your amygdala which interprets the images and sounds and sends a distress signal to your hypothalamus.The amydala signals your central nervous system to release stress hormones like cortisol, norephinephrine and adrenalin when you face a threat. (We will discuss these hormones in more detail later on).
The Hypothalamus LINKS the nervous system to the endocrine system via the pituitary gland, so it regulates your FIGHT OR FLIGHT. It’s main role is to keep your body in homeostasis and is thus responsible for communicating with the rest of the body, through the autonomic nervous system, which controls your involuntary body functions, like blood pressure, heart beat, breathing, appetite and body temperature.
The Thalamus is quite a complex role player and acts as the gatekeeper…..the operations panel, the boss of communication with the cerebral cortex and the hippocampus and receives auditory, somatosensory and visual sensory signals. The Thalamus is also the main player in memory formation and emotional expression and controls sleep and awake states as well as your pain perception.
The hippocampus encodes emotional context from the amygdala and is responsible for the formation of new memories of past experiences and regulates motivation, emotion, learning, and memory. The hippocampus is in actual fact on both sides of the brain. You would not remember how to get to your favourite shop or remember where you live without the hippocampus.
Now that you know a bit more about the amazing limbic system in your brain, you should also realize that when the limbic brain goes into overdrive, your emotions and physical well being threatens to malfunction. Perhaps you can now understand why you react the way that you do and why you experience anxiety.

THE MESSAGE FROM YOUR BRAIN…….IT’S IN THE WIRING
The more I speak to people that are battling chronic anxiety, the more I realize that most people don’t really understand, where the external manifestations, that are driven by anxiety come from. It’s not your EMOTIONS that cause your anxiety, it’s the short circuit in your BRAIN that causes the feeling of anxiety. A chemical reaction takes place throughout your body that induces your anxiety. So, how are you going to TRAIN YOUR BRAIN to TAME YOUR ANXIETY ? The body has chemical messengers, called neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are the molecules that the nervous system uses to transmit messages between neurons, or from neurons to muscles. At the end of each neuron is a tiny gap called a synapse. To enable communication to the next cell, the signal needs to cross the synapse. This occurs through a process known as neuro transmission. A neurotransmitter carries and balances signals between neurons, nerve cells and other cells in the body. The chemical messengers affects your physical and psychological functions, such as, your mood, your sex drive, your appetite, your heart rate, your sleep and off course fear. The constant work of billions of neurotransmitter molecules keep your brain functioning.
When your brain senses a threat, like being stuck in traffic or running late for a meeting or being involved in a family fude, you will go into anxious mode. A whole chain of events occurs to help your body react in order to keep you safe. Although things like public speaking and job interviews don’t pose an actual threat to your safety, the feeling of threat triggers the same response in your brain. Your fight or flight response is triggered and your system is flooded with neurotransmitters. Let’s look at the four neurotransmitters that play the most important role in stress and anxiety.
GABA is the neurotransmitter, that slows down the nerve signals when they fire too quickly and reduces overwhelming feelings that cause your anxiety.
Norepinephrine is very involved in your fight or flight mode and deals with the stress response and fear. It constricts your blood vessels and raises your blood pressure when your anxious. The massive plus is that it is responsible for decreasing pain sensitivity.
Serotonin first and foremost helps you deal with anxiety. It also regulates your appetite, your moods your sleep and very importantly inhibits pain. Serotonin gives you confidence and a feeling of wellbeing.
Dopamine is very essential in your cordination and body movement. It plays a massive role in your executive functions like arousal, motivation and motor control reinforcement. Dopamine gives your a feeling of reward and pleasure.
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON – USE YOUR EMOTIONAL SWORD.
How many times have you heard…….YOUR THOUGHTS CREATE YOUR REALITY?
Most of us have the same or similar thoughts each day, “the traffic is going to be murder again, I really have to shed some weight, but that will probably never happen, I’m going to be late for work again, my partner never helps me, my boss is going to be grumpy again”…… and so we go on and on and on!!! When you think the same thoughts all the time, it becomes hard wired in your brain. So, our same thoughts lead to the same choices which lead to the same behaviours, leading to the same experiences and eventually leads to the same EMOTIONS. The same emotions INFLUENCES the way you think. The bottom line is, YOUR NEUROCICUITRY, NEUROCHEMISTRY AND HORMONES IS EQUAL TO THE WAY YOU THINK, THE WAY YOU ACT AND THE WAY YOU FEEL, because your brain has been conditioned with the same thoughts to produce the same outcome…….ANXIETY!! So, isn’t it time to start thinking about….. WHAT YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT? Become aware of how you think and how you speak. You cannot expect to change your anxiety without changing your thoughts and behaviors. Nerve cells that fire together, wire together. You have to leave familiar territory to bring true change and positive thinking is not enough but definitely a VERY GOOD START.

Our bodies are not meant to be in constant fight or flight mode or in a state of hyper alertness and chronic anxiety, as this will damage your energy powerhouse, which is your mitochondria. Constant anxiety will reduce your ability to metabolize and detoxify, hence so may people out there that “battle the bulge” no matter how hard they try, purely because they are constantly in a overflow stream of anxiety. Chronic anxiety increases cravings as well as increases your toxicity level in your body which makes it near impossible for your body and brain to be in homeostasis.

The answer is simple, OUTSMART YOUR ANXIETY by breaking the old hard wiring in your brain and creating new wiring in your brain that will fire new thoughts and create new emotions.There are very effective ways to do this and it takes some work, but once you see and feel the difference, you won’t want to stop.
